The Oak Park Tennis Association (OPTA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing local tennis players with the opportunity to meet and compete with other players at similar skill levels. The OPTA is an entirely volunteer organization.
To be a member of Oak Park Tennis Association (OPTA) you must be a resident of Oak Park, River Forest or Forest Park or be a member of one of the 3 local tennis clubs: The Oak Park and River Forest Tennis & Fitness Centre, the Oak Park Tennis Club, or the River Forest Tennis Club.
OPTA organizes about 200 players. We assign all Summer League players to divisions based on players’ skills. We then send out email messages, around the end of May, to all paid players. We encourage you check the website for divisions settings. Each player is responsible for setting up their own matches. Matches must be played, and scores recorded, during the Summer OPTA season which is from the first day of May through the last day of September. We encourage players to use the public courts in Oak Park and River Forest. Matches can also be played at the Oak Park Tennis Club (public clay tennis courts, located at the corner of Lake and Harlem) however; if you do not have a summer membership at the Oak Park Tennis Club you will be charged $15 per person to use the courts.
While the Summer Tournament is division tournament, the Fall tournament (typically in the last weekend of September) is an open elimination tournament, giving all players the chance to finish up another great outdoor tennis season.
There is a $20.00 OPTA membership fee which goes towards: organization fees (website, database management, and mailing), trophies for the winners of each summer division, participation in the Fall Tournament, and trophies for the winners of each Fall Tournament division, and the Award Ceremony Banquet, which is held at the Oak Park and River Forest Tennis & Fitness Centre located at Lake and Ridgeland. The Award Ceremony party includes free indoor tennis with snacks and beverages.
We encourage everyone to participate and offer divisions with all levels of experience. We offer singles, doubles, and mixed doubles leagues.
The 2010 OPTA Board hopes you will join us for another great year of outdoor tennis.
Thanks. Drop us an e-mail with your suggestions on how we can continue to improve OPTA. Have a great season.
